Christopher Lee Rios, nome verdadeiro de Big Pun, também conhecido como Big Punisher, foi um emcee de Bronx, New York, nasceu em Porto Rico no dia 10 de novembro de 1971 e faleceu em 7 de fevereiro de 2000 vítima de um ataque cardíaco devido a seu peso, do qual sempre lutou contra muitos problemas. Ele emergiu na cena underground na década de 90.

O grupo Gang Starr foi fundado em 1986 por Guru, DJ 1,2 B Down, Mike Dee e produtores como Donald D, J.V. Jonhson e DJ Mark the 45 King. Em 1989 o grupo se dividiu e o único a continuar foi Guru, ele logo entrou em contato com DJ Premier para juntar-se ao grupo. Atualmente não se sabe o estado do grupo.
